Artist's Comments

Ink and pen then scanned and colored in Photoshop 7.

I am in love with these two colors right now.

(Yes that girl and that boy are recurring characters.)

EDIT 11.13.08:

Thank you for the DD nomination, :iconmykel:! This means a LOT to me. You have my utmost gratitude!

So, I decided to write a little more about the process, if you were curious:

1. I do not pre-sketch any of my drawings. Part of what I love most about my illustrations is that they, while pre-planned in the mind, are not pre-planned on paper. In other words, I kind of let the ink lead my hand and let my hand lead my brain. This process stemmed from the time my teacher commented on me doing comic art (how I sketched a cartoon first and then inked it up and then erased it) and asked me why I did that and why I didn't just go straight to ink because I should already know where my line is going to go. I took this to heart and from then on, tried to just draw where my hand went. (Except, um, in my Anime/Manga art. Heh.) Do I mess up? Sometimes, but from there, I just manage to integrate that anyway and work with it. It's like life: you make a mistake, you can't erase it, but you can work with it.

2. Haha, some are saying how my work looks like Shel Silverstein: Well, The Giving Tree is one of my inspirational children's books as is Where the Wild Things Are and Peter Pan (NOT the Disney version though).

3. I didn't time myself but I would have to say it took me about an hour and a half to do one black and white drawing and then another hour to perfect the color choice on Photoshop. I'm kind of anal with color at times. I strive for minimal editing so the black and white is pretty much what I've drawn.

Thassall.
